FIREARM AND NFA ITEMS TRANSFERS

Freedom Forge Armory provides firearm and NFA transfer services by appointment only. Transfer services remain available on a limited, appointment-based schedule.

Before having any firearm or NFA item shipped to us, contact us first. Please do not schedule an appointment until you receive notification that your item has arrived and is ready for pickup.

Freedom Forge Armory is a preferred FFL for the metro Richmond area with the following large online retailers and distributors:

TRANSFER FEES

Incoming Transfers to Freedom Forge Armory:

Regular Firearm: $35

Multiple Firearms: $35 for the first firearm, $30 for each additional firearm on the same transfer transaction

NFA Items: $85

Outgoing Transfers to Other FFLs:

Regular Firearm: $40 plus shipping

NFA Item: $100 plus shipping

Payment Policy:

Cash payment only for transfer services, payment is due at pickup.

Please do not send firearms or packages COD. COD shipments will not be accepted.

Freedom Forge Armory currently does not facilitate private-party transfer transactions.

For non-FFL individuals shipping firearms to Freedom Forge Armory:

  • Include a legible photocopy of your state-issued identification.
  • Include your physical address if it is not listed on your identification.
  • We will provide our FFL directly to dealers or shippers when required.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED FOR PICKUP

  1. Contact us before shipping your firearm. Once your item arrives and is logged in, we will contact you to schedule an appointment.
  2. Age Requirements:
  • Rifles and shotguns: 18 years or older
  • Handguns, frames, receivers, and other age-restricted items: 21 years or older
  1. Bring a valid government-issued photo ID showing your current residential address.

Virginia residents: State law requires Virginia-issued driver's licenses or ID cards used for firearm purchases/transfers to have been issued at least 30 days prior to transfer. This is a requirement per § 46.2-345.2. to establish residency requirements

  1. If purchasing or transferring a handgun, bring your Concealed Handgun Permit if applicable.
  • Active-duty military personnel stationed in Virginia should bring PCS orders to establish residency.
  • Bring any additional documents needed to establish residency or citizenship status if applicable.
  • Bring payment in cash.

If a transferred firearm cannot legally be released to the intended recipient, return shipping, transfer, storage, or disposal costs remain the sole responsibility of the intended recipient.

Freedom Forge Armory LLC reserves the right to cancel or terminate any transaction at any point prior to the completion of the transfer process.

Freedom Forge Armory LLC reserves the right to refuse any firearm transfer, regardless of approval status or background check results, if we believe the transfer may violate any federal, state, or local law or regulation; if we suspect the firearm is being purchased on behalf of a prohibited person (straw purchase); or if we reasonably believe the firearm may be used in furtherance of unlawful activity.
